Content GUT Basic UT course:

Duration = 3 days (24 hours)

This course provides an overview about the theoretical background of ultrasonic testing and includes some practical training as well.

The theoretical part covers:

  • Basics in Ultrasound (waves, frequency, pieco-electric effect, sound velocity etc.)
  • Reflection, refraction of sound waves, wave transformation
  • Functions and features available in digital Flaw detectors
  • Design and properties of T/R, Straight beam and angle beam probes
  • Angular beaming and localisation of reflectors
  • Documentation of testing results

The practical part covers:

  • Flaw detector adjustment for use of straight beam probes and hands on inspections on testpieces.
  • Flaw detector adjustment for the use of angle beam probes on V1 and V2 calibration blocks and hands on inspections on testpieces.

Flaw detector adjustments on V1 and V2 are the base for the location and categorisation of reflectors.

Participants and pre- conditions for participation:

This course is for beginners in ultrasonic testing and is open to any skilled engineering worker, technician or person with similar background. Experience in NDT and ultrasonic testing is not required.

Content (UT1V):

Duration = 8 days (64 hours)

This extensive course provides the theoretical background of ultrasonic testing and includes practical training as well.

The theoretical part covers:

Duration = 10 days with 8 hours a day

UT2V is the extended course for UT1 holders. The course provides more a more detailed insight in ultrasonic testing, in particular concerning the evaluation of test results. The AVG/DGS method for flaw evaluation is introduced, test results related to the detectability of reflectors and further parameter influencing the inspection results are discussed. Products- and Standard related know-how is provided as well.

This course is for UT1 holders with at least 3 months of experience.

Content: Phased Array Introduction

Content (UTToFD Introduction):

Duration = 3 days (24 hours)

This course provides insight in the Phased Array technology. The ToFD theory is explained in detail and a number of inspections on test pieces are performed.

Content: PS-Product familiarization courses for SONOTRON equipment

Remark: Ultrasonic instruments from Sonotron with their self-explanatory operation concept are especially designed for ease of use. The product familarization course ensure optimal use of the equipment. Any upcoming question about certain features and functions will be explained by the expert trainer.

1.    Short introduction in the operation of an ultrasonic flaw detector

Duration = 1 day

This basic course provides all the required know-how to make best use out of the Sonotron flaw detector systems.

Every single function is explained in detail. Instrument adjustments will be performed.

Participants and pre- conditions for participation:

This course is for new users of Sonotron instruments or those who want a better understanding about the features and functions of the equipment. We recommend a qualification similar to the GUT course or UT1 certification.

Training fee per participant:

(1 day) 290,– EUR

 

2.    Introduction to the operation of Sonotron equipment ISONIC 2009 or ISONIC 2010

Duration = 3 days

This course provides all the required know-how to make best use out of the Sonotron flaw detector systems 2009 and 2010.
Every single function is explained in detail. Instrument adjustments will be performed. Depending on the scope of equipment available application examples will be explained and performed.

Participants and pre- conditions for participation:

This course is for new users of Sonotron instruments or those who want a better understanding about the features and functions of the respective equipment. Depending on the requirement of the participant we recommend a qualification similar to the GUT course or UT1 certification and Phased Array as well as ToFD qualification.
